Alvin R. Long

Alvin R. Long, born May 24, 1955 in Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026 in Rockdale, Texas. His life, marked by kindness, and connection, is honored by the many who knew him, and the legacy he leaves behind is cherished by his family and friends.

Alvin was the son of Emanuel Victor Long and Dorothy Ann Shesler, who both preceded him in death.

He is survived by his brothers, Curtis Shesler and Victor Shesler, his sister, Vita Johnson, and numerus nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind Daniel Martinez, a companion and steadfast friend, carrying forward memories of shared companionship and trust.

To honor Alvin’s life and memory, a graveside service will be held at Gause Cemetery, located on West Walnut Street in Gause, Texas, on July 7, 2026. Friends and family are invited to gather at 2:00 p.m. to pay their respects and share in remembering Alvin.

His absence leaves a deep sense of loss, but his legacy of dignity, and enduring kindness will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to know him. Alvin R. Long will be dearly missed, and lovingly remembered.
