Ann Marie Schmidt, 83, of Temple, Texas, went to be with the Lord on October 26, 2025. Ann was born on May 31, 1942, in Rosebud, Texas, to Leonard and Honie Gross. She attended Rosebud schools for all twelve years and proudly graduated with the Class of 1960. While working at the Temple Telegram, Ann met the love of her life, Jurgen Schmidt. The two married on July 28, 1963, at First Lutheran Church, beginning a devoted marriage that would span over six decades. Music was Ann’s first love and lifelong passion. A natural talent, she taught herself to play the guitar, piano, banjo, and fiddle. Over the years, she performed with numerous bands throughout Central Texas, sharing the stage with several recording artists and even performing at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1972, Ann fulfilled a personal dream by recording and releasing her own single, “One Last Drink.” Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Honie Gross, and her sister, Margie Chance of Rogers, Texas. She is survived by her loving husband, Jurgen Schmidt; sons Jason Schmidt of Durango, Texas, and his wife Laura, along with their children Jake, Jase Dillon, and Josie Darden and husband Christian; and Justin Schmidt of Frisco, Texas, and his wife Leyla, along with their daughter Jaedyn Ella. Ann was also blessed with two great-granddaughters, Jolie and June, daughters of Jake and Jessica Schmidt. Visitation will be held at First Lutheran Church on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Graveside services will take place at Phillips Cemetery in Travis at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church in memory of Ann. Ann’s kindness, talent, and deep love for her family and faith will be cherished forever by all who knew her.
Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud is in charge of arrangements.
