Listen to Obituary

Caleb Miller was known by many titles: Father, Husband, Son, Brother, Boss, Fire Chief and a true “never met a stranger” person. He was well known for walking babies to sleep, from his own children to any other fussy baby who crossed his path. He was a pillar of the community setting the example of what we should be while telling us we were already good enough. Caleb was an extraordinary man who acted like a normal one.

Caleb was born December the 2nd, 1985 in Paris, Texas to Darrel Miller and Mary, formerly Kuhns. He lost his mother as a young child and several years later gained another mother when his Dad married Ruth Friesen. As a youth Caleb worked with his Dad in his mechanic shop. He enjoyed many camping trips with his family and was always a protective older brother to his siblings. Many adventures were had from wakeboarding in the ditches during rain to riding his dirt bikes and motorcycles.

Caleb met his wife Amanda while doing volunteer work in Arkansas. Caleb proposed in the cemetery they often took walks in. They were married June 12, 2010 in Mandy’s home of Indiana. They supported each other in the rough times and good times whether it was Caleb supporting Mandy through Nursing School, Mandy supporting Caleb through starting his many businesses, or the both of them in raising their two children. Raising Brayden and Kristynn meant that Caleb and Mandy had two more people to show all of their favorite hobbies. Together the four of them traveled from Mexico to the mountains of Colorado, snowboarding, riding the side by side, and boating, as a family of adventurers. He was excited to show the children everything he was enthusiastic about. Spending time helping Brayden with his sports and hunting and teaching Kristynn to ride her new dirt bike. Always ready with a hug and a word of praise.

Caleb was the founder of CM Construction and co-founder of Backyard Boyz of Texas. Many hours were spent learning and growing the shed hauling and pool installation business. He was a self made man in every sense of the word and people naturally sought him out for his business wisdom. Caleb’s drive was to work hard and in turn shower that generosity on others. Above all else, everything he built was for the people he loved the most, his family and those closest to him.

As the Rosebud Volunteer Fire Chief, his shoulders never sagged under the weight of his responsibility to the community. He led through sweat, blood, tears and powerful conviction. The department will have to carry on, though his boots will be hard to fill.

On Saturday May 2nd, Caleb had a wonderful day doing what he loved the most, riding the trails with his family and eating pork chops. He was taken too soon in a tragic accident.

Caleb was preceded in death by his mother Mary Kuhns, Grandfather Abe Kuhns, Grandfather Calvin Miller and Grandma Anne Friesen. He was survived by his wife Amanda Miller, Son Brayden, Daughter Kristynn, Father Darrel, Mother Ruth, Brother Lendall, Sisters Carmen, Carla, Faye, Latishia, Kezia and nieces and nephews.
