Houston, TX
Charlotte McCarty, born January 29, 1954, in Cameron, Texas, passed away on October 8, 2026, in Houston, Texas.
Charlotte will be remembered as a caring person who enjoyed life. She was the youngest of six sisters, a place in the family that remained part of her story throughout her life. She graduated from West Columbia High School and went on to work as a flight attendant for United Airlines. Through that work, she was able to travel the world, something she truly enjoyed and that brought her great happiness.
Along with her love of life and travel, Charlotte also showed her devotion in quieter, deeply meaningful ways. She was able to care for her mother before her passing, an act that reflected her generous heart and the steady compassion that shaped her life.
She is survived by her sisters, Gwendolyn Johnson, Gloria Ashley, Nancy Hobbins, and Gladna Helton. Together, they shared the lifelong bond of being five sisters, and Charlotte held a cherished place among them. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Luther McCarty; her mother, Iris Flippin McCarty; a sister Sharon Jones; and her niece, Brenda Matus.
A graveside service will be held on October 29, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron, Texas.
Charlotte’s life was marked by kindness, family devotion, and a spirit that found joy in both the wide world and the people she loved most. She will be remembered with affection and missed dearly.
