Gladys Kornegay Keith, 81, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2026. Graveside memorial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Gause Cemetery in Gause, Texas.
Daughter of the late Robert Arnold Kornegay and Bessie Myrtle Green Kornegay, Gladys was born on January 15, 1945, in Gause, Texas.
Gladys was an avid quilter and a member of the Golden Needles Quilt Guild in Conroe, TX and then the Heart of Georgia Quilt Guild in Macon, GA after she moved there to be with her daughter and family. She was also part of many other bees and sewing groups in both communities. She enjoyed sharing her creativity and talents with others. Having begun quilting as a teenager, she was probably the fastest quilter on the east coast, making more than 100 quilts a year. These quilts she gave freely to family, friends, charities, and strangers. Repairmen who came to her house often found themselves in possession of a quilt as a thank you.
Gladys also taught quilting to others, leading many classes and workshops on a variety of quilting topics. She was a life-long learner of the subject, participating in workshops as a student herself. She would say that any day she got to quilt was a good day.
Gladys will be lovingly remembered by her son, Randal Clayton Keith (Donna R Keith) of Willis, Texas; daughter, Dr. Sheree Nicole Keith (Robert E. Wall) of Macon, Georgia; grandchildren: Lorelai Wall, Krista Keith, and Dalynn Keith; and two great grandchildren, Aaliyah and Adalynn.
In addition to her husband and parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her siblings: William Arnold, Martha Lucinda Moore, Charles Edward, Cecil Ray, and Harold Gene.
