Jimmy A. Taylor, 77 of Rosebud, died Friday, May 23, 2025 in Temple. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud. Burial will follow in Morning Star Cemetery in Baileyville.
Jimmy was born in rural Milam County on March 28, 1948 to Leonard Knox and Jewel Alexander. He grew up near Baileyville and attended public schools for a short while before choosing to go into the workforce to provide for his family. He made a living as a ranch hand working for many organizations. He accepted Christ at a young age and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Jimmy was a wonderful and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, cousin, and friend. He enjoyed fishing, riding and training horses, roping and herding cattle, playing cards and dominoes, and spending time with his family.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; Leonard Knox and Jewel Alexander, 1 brother: Luther Ray Alexander Sr; 3 sisters: Bennie Alexander, Lovie Alexander, and Dorothy Ervin; 2 daughters: Stacy Holman and Teressa Holman, 1 nephew: Layfette Alexander; and his loving wife Annette Holman Taylor.
He is survived by his brother: T.C. Alexander, 2 sisters: Bernice Thompson and Ocie Mayse, 4 sons: Jimmy Alexander Jr. (Debra), Johnny Alexander, Jarvis Holman, and Zachary Holman (Natalie), 1 daughter: Laci Taylor McClennon (Kevin), a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held fro 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
