In loving memory of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Larry James Hoelscher, Sr. who passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026 at the age of 78.

Larry was born on April 26,1948 to Herbert F. and Helen W. Hoelscher. He was blessed with the birth of his son, Larry James Hoelscher, Jr. in 1970. On October 6,1984 he married his beloved wife, Pauline Tobola Hargrove, and lovingly welcomed her two children, Brenda and Bert, into his heart and home.

Larry retired from the City of Waco in November, 1998, where he proudly served as a firefighter for 29 years. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher, respected by all, in his hometown of Westphalia, Texas. Larry was a devout member of The Church of the Visitation in Westphalia, where he humbly served on the parish’s building committee during the reconstruction of the church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus as well as the St. Mary’s Cemetery Association. Larry was proud to serve 24 years on the Falls County Farm Bureau Board of Directors.

Larry leaves behind his loving wife Pauline, his son Larry James Hoelscher, Jr. and wife Tanya of Westphalia, Brenda Hargrove Maddux and husband Mark of Cyclone, and Bert Hargrove, III and wife Courtney of Westphalia.

He will forever be missed by his grandchildren, Ethan (Kayla) Hoelscher, Hagen (Lacy) Hoelscher, Tatum (Chad) Giniewicz and Hope (Hutton) Lusty, Jacob Maddux, Jonathan (Rachel) Maddux and Kinsey Hargrove.

Larry also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Cotton, Lesley, Laurel and Crew Hoelscher, Acre Hoelscher, and Briggs and Quinn Giniewicz, Andrew Larson and Eden Holmes.

He is also survived by six sisters, Delores Michalewicz, Jeanette Driska, Margaret Moeller, Shirley Pausewang, Darlene Fikes, and Marlene Vrazel.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Cemetery Association in Westphalia.

Larry was blessed to have been under the care of Bluebonnet Health Services Hospice during his final days. He is now at peace but will live on forever in our hearts.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday June 8, 2026 in the Church of the Visitation in Westphalia. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m.
