With heavy hearts, the family of Matilde Borgas Rangel announces his passing on July 5, 2026, in Temple, Texas. Born on October 17, 1936, in Robstown, Texas, Matilde’s life was defined by dedication to family, steadfast character, and an enduring sense of resilience.

Matilde lived a full and meaningful life, cherishing the bonds of family above all else. He is survived by a large and loving family, including his sons Ramiro Rangel, Armando Rangel, and Matilde Rangel Jr., as well as his daughters Sylvia Molina, Rosa Contreras, Teresa Rodriguez, Stella Alvarado, Beatrice Rangel, Imelda Rangel, Sophia Rangel, Yolanda Vela, and Gloria Montez. Matilde also leaves behind his beloved sister, Julia Vargas, 42 Grandchildren 116+ Great-Grandchildren   65+ Great-Great-Grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his cherished wife, Rebeca G. Rangel; his brothers Juan Rangel, Manuel Rangel, and Pancho Rangel; his father, Inez Rangel; and his mother, Cecilia Borgas Rangel. Their memories continue to inspire those who survive him, and their legacy lives on through the love and unity Matilde instilled in his family.

Matilde’s life story is woven from the fabric of deep familial devotion and strong moral values. Though modest about his accomplishments, those who knew him best recognize the quiet strength and unwavering support he provided his children, grandchildren, and extended family. Born in Robstown, he brought with him the enduring traditions and values of Mexican-American heritage, carrying them forward into every aspect of his life.

Throughout the challenges and joys that life brought, Matilde’s presence was a constant, steady, caring, and wise. He is fondly remembered for his guidance, his compassion, and the pride he took in seeing his family flourish. The lessons he imparted will remain with his loved ones always.

The family invites friends and all who knew Matilde to remember and celebrate his life at the following services: A Rosary will be held on Friday, July 10, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Green - Patterson Funeral Home, located at 2701 N Travis Ave, Cameron, TX 76520. A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 11, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Monica Catholic Church, 306 S Nolan Ave, Cameron, TX 76520. Interment will follow at Hernandez Cemetery.

Matilde Borgas Rangel’s legacy of love, family, and integrity will be cherished and remembered for generations to come. His life touched many, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
