Mattie Kessner

Mattie Kessner, 86 of Belton, died on Sunday August 2, 2026 in a Gatesville assisted living center. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud.

Mrs. Kessner was born on September 23, 1939 near Rosebud to Leroy and Ruby White Lynch. She graduated from Rosebud High School. She married Harrell Kessner. She worked for the Veterans Administration in Waco for more than 20 years. She believed in hard work and enjoyed her grandchildren and her flower garden.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, Kara Kessner and Schalan Mohtares, and two brothers, John Lynch and Roy “Pete” Lynch.

She is survived by one daughter, Marla York and husband Clint of Belton, one brother, Sammy Lynch and wife Donna of Little River-Academy, five grandchildren, Rhiannon, Kaela, Benjamin, Samuel, and Dimitri, and three great-grandchildren, Lane, Ruby and Amos.
