Listen to Obituary

Patricia Lynn Byers Brannon was born on July 7, 1950, in Dallas, Texas, to Cora Lynn Anding Byers and Jack Edward Byers. A joyful baby with blonde curls, she later attended J.F. Kimball High School, where she was a National Honor Society member, a Merit Scholar, and a drill team lieutenant who led bands at the Texas State Fair. She went on to attend Southern Methodist University. Her passion for mathematics led to a career in the emerging field of computer technology. She began at the Texas Education Agency, later became head of technology at Lone Star Steel, and then Vice President of Technology of Tide Products, Inc, owned by Don Bentsen.

Pat was multitalented and inherited her musical ear and ability from her father. She excelled at the piano and loved playing her Yamaha Clavinova keyboard. Without sheet music, she could play melodies both current and old. She also enjoyed creating black-chalk sketches. After extensive research, she authored the published book “The Powers Chapel Community,” which was endorsed by the Powers Chapel Board and sold at the annual Commemoration Day Service.

Outgoing, honest, and warm, Pat cherished her family and her close friends from high school and SMU.

Pat is survived by her sister, Suzan Byers Loesch; her brother, Robert Martin Palmer; her sister, Nancy Palmer McMillan; her nephew Bobby Palmer, his wife Leslie, and their daughters, Caroline and Hallie; her nephew Will McMillan and his fiancée, Adelaide Gladney; and her niece Miranda Palmer Spiteri and her husband, Brandon Spiteri. Pat also adored her stepson, Rick Brannon; his wife, Noriko; and their son, Elijah, of Los Angeles.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in Powers Chapel Cemetery.
