Raymond Tamez, 80, passed away on September 21, 2026, in Killeen. He was born on May 30, 1946, in Cameron, Texas, and was born and raised there, carrying with him throughout his life the roots and spirit of the community he called home.

Raymond was a dedicated worker who spent 25 years at Artco-Bell Corporation. Through his hard work ethic, he climbed the ranks to become a supervisor, a reflection of his steady commitment, perseverance, and sense of responsibility. He finished his work career at Leon Heights Elementary at Belton ISD as crossing guard and in the maintenance department where he retired. 

He found joy in dancing and music, and he was especially fond of the times spent with family and friends at the Fiesta Grounds in Cameron. Those gatherings and shared moments were a meaningful part of his life. He enjoyed being comforted by his grand pups Skye and Zeus. He also loved ducks, a simple affection that added to the warmth and individuality of the man so many knew and loved.

Above all, Raymond will be remembered by the family who shared in his life and love. He is survived by his wife, Mary Tamez; their family, including sons Daniel Tamez and Benson Soliz, and daughter Amy Diaz husband Rudie and his daughter Malinda “Mindy” Tamez husband Lucio.  He is also survived by his brother, Andrew & Ruth Tamez; sisters Mary and Jessie Sisneros; and Patsy Garcia. May the love of his family and the memories they hold bring lasting comfort in the days ahead.

He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Tamez; his mother, Elpidia Cruz; his daughter, Stella Aleman; his brother, Pete Tamez; and his sister, Susie Tamez.

Visitation for Raymond Tamez will be held on September 25, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Green-Patterson Funeral Home, 2701 N Travis Ave, Cameron, Texas 76520, followed by the Rosary from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the same location. A Mass will be celebrated on September 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Monica Catholic Church, 306 S Nolan Ave, Cameron, Texas 76520. Burial will follow from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Hernandez Cemetery, 278 FM 1600, Cameron, Texas 76520.

Raymond Tamez will be remembered with love for his devotion to family, his years of hard work, and the happiness he found in music, dancing, and time spent with those closest to him.
